Barren County High School
Caverna High School
The Lady Colonels were in action at Ralphie’s Fun Center on Thursday night, seeking to avenge last weeks loss to the Trojanettes. The CHS squad looked like they were well on their way to a victory in the first head to head game. The Lady Colonels were led by Shiana Smith with a 201. She was followed by Madison Patel with a 171 and Megan Cox with a 151. The ladies put up a 523 game and jumped to a quick 99 pin lead.
In the second game, Caverna struggled to put together a consistent run. It came down to the last frame. With a slim lead the Lady Colonels left three of the four tenth frames open. This let Barren Co. back into the match as the Lady Colonels dropped the game by one pin. Smith stayed consistent and rolled a 194 and a 395 series. So just like last week it came down to the Baker’s games.
All Caverna had to do was win one of the Baker’s games to defeat the defending regional champions. In the first Baker’s both teams struggled to string together marks. Barren eeked out the win by 17 pins. So down to the last Baker’s game. Both teams started strong but the Trojanettes strung together four strikes in the middle of the match to pull away from the Lady Colonels. In the end the Trojanettes collected three of the five possible points winning both Baker’s matches and one head to head game. The Lady Colonels won one head to head and total pin count.
The Colonels are back in action next week on Dec. 10th in Bowling Green against Warren East.
